Rhonda Feser, massage therapist

Rhonda Feser

I have been practising Massage Therapy in Calgary for 10 years now. I attended Medicine Hat College graduating with the certificate program in 2000 and the diploma program in 2001.

My experience in therapeutic massage therapy ranges from injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, and chronic pain to the art of relaxation. My passion for the healing craft of Massage Therapy is myofascial release. It has amazing results with pain relief and increased range of motion. My massage style is unique and customized using multiple modalities from cranial sacral to rehabilitative sports massage incorporating PNF stretching (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation). I had the privilege to study under a chiropractor for two years which assists me to inform clients when they might benefit and need chiropractic referral.

It is gratifying to be able to help people rehabilitate and manage pain and stress. It has been a very rewarding career choice for me.

Growing up, Sara was very active. She started with gymnastics, then into figure skating. With her family having a swimming pool, there was no keeping her out in the summer.

Moving to Calgary after a recent travel, Jade has enjoyed learning about the world and herself. She has discovered that she enjoys helping others help themselves feel better and loves being able to provide that helpful touch when needed. Whether it be therapeutic, pre/post natal, or just plain relaxation, Jade is happy to work with her clients to provide them with the best treatment possible. She enjoys a challenge and knows the physical body is just one aspect to higher health.

Jade is passionate about health and loves learning new holistic approaches to life. She feels that when the body mind and spirit are all working together, there can be peace within oneself. She plans on furthering her knowledge at any chance and loves to attend yoga, play soccer and just be outdoors and in the sun. She firmly believes in travelling as it allows the spirit and mind to open up and appreciate the things we take for granted. “It's humbling and good for the soul to expand our knowledge, understanding and appreciation for the world in which we live.”

Candace Reglin Registered Massage Therapist

Candace Reglin

Upon graduating from the advanced 2200 hour program at Foothills College of Massage Therapy in 2007, Candace formed the belief that to experience optimal health and wellness, one needs to maintain health both inside and out. She believes the body works as an entire unit and therefore must be healed as an entire unit (mechanically and energetically).

Candace constantly challenges herself as a Massage Therapist to identify the root of a problem rather than identifying and treating individual symptoms.

To ensure treatment progress Candace uses a number of different modalities in her treatment sessions which include Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy and Therapeutic, Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Sports, Post-operative and Pregnancy Massage. All of which address both acute and chronic conditions.

Because of previous life experiences and her active lifestyle, Candace is able to empathize with her Massage patients and has developed excellent communication and team skills. She feels these skills are an asset to helping her patients reach their optimal goal of health. She also possesses a natural compassion for helping those who are hurting and applies this compassion through massage therapy.

Outside of the massage world Candace loves to challenge herself at the gym and in the kitchen and enjoys cycling, camping, hiking and movies.

Samantha Taylor

Samantha Taylor

Calgary has always been home for me and being active has been an important part of my life since I was a kid. Whether I was on the street throwing the football with my dad, going to the park to play soccer with friends, or snowboarding in the winter, I was always on the go.

In grade 6 my passion became volleyball and I found myself playing on my schools team all through Junior High and High School (along with basketball, wrestling and field hockey for a couple years here and there). Half way through High School I joined the rugby team. Between that and volleyball I found myself very aware of what “sore muscles” felt like and became interested in the human body, how it functioned and finding ways to help myself perform better as an athlete.

I’m now in the Massage world, working along side my fellow Chiropractic and Massage team and clients to help the body help itself. The rest is history.

Is massage for me?

Almost anyone can benefit from massage. This will be best determined in one of three ways. Try a massage for a shorter session and discuss your health history with one of our therapists. They will explain everything they are doing while you are receiving a massage and ensure you feel comfortable. Secondly you could book a 5–10 minute consultation with one of our therapists or clinic director to discuss any questions or concerns. We can usually answer these so that you can make the decision which best suits your needs. Finally, ask us for names of people who have agreed to speak to anyone for a personal reference. Most of our clients would love to discuss the benefits they have received from massage therapy at Embody Wellness Centre.

Who is a qualified massage therapist?

Massage therapists are required to maintain full registration under the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada Association. This organization oversees that the required training and testing has been achieved by all practitioners. There are many educational institutions across Canada that train and graduate registered massage therapists. These institutions have varying degrees of comprehensive programs and specialty training available to their students.

Should massage be painful?

Massage is not painful and does not need to be painful. Pain is a misleading term, as it is so often thought to be a bad or negative thing. Some forms of massage require greater firmness of pressure, and this can create a strong stimulation, but once again, not injurious or painful. Pain is a matter of emotional experience that is unique to every human being. Everyone’s perception of pain is different since so much of our pain experience is uniquely related to our cultural background, level of fitness, age, state of health and history of previous injuries. All of our patients are encouraged to communicate with our therapists, providing the feedback for them to individualize their experience.

How long is a massage therapy session?

Sessions at Embody Wellness can consist of 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute sessions.

Dr. Michael Asks some important questions of interest to Calgary residents - Chiropractor Calgary Dr. Michael Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Calgary chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
