Meet Dr. Mikayla Schmolke
BKin, MSc Clinical Neuroscience, DC, Chiropractor

“Chiropractic has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a chiropractic family shaped not only the career I chose, but how I think about health, too.”
A Lifelong Interest in Helping People
For Dr. Mikayla, becoming a chiropractor wasn’t the result of one defining moment. It always felt like something she was naturally drawn toward.
Raised in a chiropractic family, she grew up with health, movement, and staying active woven into everyday life. Today, she’s proud to have come full circle, working alongside her family and within a great team of health professionals at Beacon Hill Chiropractic and Massage.
Finding the Right Career
Dr. Mikayla completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary before moving to Dallas, Texas, where she earned both her Doctor of Chiropractic and a Master of Science in Clinical Neuroscience from Parker University.
During her final year, she completed her externship in a family practice, working with expectant mothers, babies, children, and families.
Before choosing chiropractic, Dr. Mikayla explored several other healthcare professions. Each appealed to her for different reasons, but she kept coming back to chiropractic because it combined everything she was looking for: helping people, continuing to learn, and encouraging patients to take an pro-active role in their health.
She also holds certifications in the Webster Technique, Activator Methods®, and Graston Technique, and enjoys continuing her education whenever she has the opportunity. She is planning on obtaining her ICPA Pediatric Certification in the near future.
What Matters Most to Her
Ask Dr. Mikayla what she hopes patients notice when they meet her, and the answer is simple: she wants them to feel comfortable, inspired and empowered.
She believes good care starts with listening. Every person walks through the door with a different story, different goals, and different experiences, so she takes the time to understand where they’re coming from before deciding what comes next.
One of the parts of practice Dr. Mikayla enjoys most is helping people better understand their health. Whether someone comes in with lots of questions or none at all, she wants them to leave feeling informed about their care and confident in the decisions they’re making.
She also loves seeing people realize that meaningful progress doesn’t always come from making huge changes overnight. More often, it’s the small things done consistently that add up over time.
Outside the Practice
Away from the clinic, you’ll usually find Dr. Mikayla doing something active.
She plays soccer in Calgary’s Women’s Premier Division and enjoys recreational volleyball during the week. Hiking, kayaking, skiing, skating, pickleball, and exploring the mountains with family are all regular parts of life, too.
Travel is another favourite, especially if it includes paddleboarding, snorkelling, or simply finding somewhere new to explore. And, of course, there’s plenty of time spent with the family’s dogs (and fish!), who never fail to keep everyone entertained.
